Organization is great, if you ever get around to it.  I feel like I need to get organized about being organized and if you feel the same way, you may appreciate this little development from Purely Custom.  Bike Shops and especially bike fitting studios have wrestled with displaying an array of bicycle saddles. Similar to herding cats, bicycle saddles are clumsy and awkward when they’re not actually on your bike.  For any retail bike shop you need to display your selection and for a bike fitter, your saddles need to be readily available when conducting a fit.  Purely Custom’s bicycle saddle hanger is just what you need.

Origin of the Invention

We either see a need for something or we see a need for improvement, and that’s how some of the best products come about here at Purely Custom.  Sure we have our own design engineers and an entire manufacturing plant, but you still have to supply good ideas.  Those ideas come from cyclists, customers, bike fitters, and anyone who might ask, “what if?”  Now let’s be clear, hangers existed before Purely Custom engineered this saddle hanger.  Some had long hangers that stuck out as items dangled rather loosely.  Other hangers consisted of a plastic snap-on attachment that popped into the grooves of a slat board.  According to certified bike fitter, Steve Price, “the key to these hangers from Purely Custom is that when you go to plug the saddle back on the wall, eight others don’t fall.”  So let me make sure I hear him right, not only is it good that saddles are displayed properly, they need to stay on the wall, sounds like a fair expectation.

Bike Fitting Studio & Bike Shops

For any fitter working with a client, the last thing they would want is a pile of saddles falling off the wall and looking clumsy and unprofessional.

Fitters will typically have an array of saddles that offer different shapes that place the rider more forward or even upright.

Being able to grab a different saddle and hang another on the wall efficiently just keeps everything organized, efficient, and professional.

These saddle hangers are designed to hang on a slat board and as you can see from the pictures, they’re fairly low profile so they’re not sticking out getting snagged on everybody that walks by.

For bike shops, they offer a great way to display a variety of bike saddles uniformly as opposed to a mish mash of products.  These hangers actually keep the saddles straight rather just hanging somewhat loosely.

How Are They Made

Purely Custom saddle hangers are designed, engineered, and manufactured right here in our plant using a four slide metalworking machine.

A four slide metalworking machine is a unique process that combines forming and stamping all in one machine.  Just looking at this machine makes you wonder how it could ever work, but it can take metal strip, stamp and bend,

and the result is a part such as this saddle hanger all ready to be anodized.  We also use these machines to produce precision parts for a multitude of industries, including defense, aerospace, and medical.

After the hangers are manufactured, we have them anodized in black and ready for custom engraving.
