Impressive
And the crowd goes wild! It was something like that; well, maybe pretty darn impressed is more accurate to describe the response when we first introduced the Wheel Riser at Trek World and Interbike this past summer. The newest fitting tool to the Purely Custom lineup has been rather popular and is hardly mentioned without the word versatile finding its way into the conversation. Checkout the article in Pez Cycling News by Charles Manantan, scroll down a ways on “INTERBIKE 2015 Gear Reviews #3” or click on this link http://www.pezcyclingnews.com/tech-n-spec/interbike-2015-gear-reviews-round-3/#.ViUuq36rSUl and read some of the press this popular fitting tool is receiving.
How Did It Come About
When you get a bike fitter and a design engineer together, you know the ideas are going to start flowing. The concept for the Wheel Riser is said to have started with some napkin doodles and ideas for a versatile (there’s that word again) tool to help when a bike fitter was performing a bike fit using a customer’s bike. That’s the great thing about Purely Custom, our ideas are always coming in from bike fitters, customers and partners, we listen and we actually have the resources to tinker with these ideas and manufacture something in our facility in Twin Falls, Idaho. So before this product even had a name, it was already destined for greatness.
That Makes Sense
“That makes sense” is a familiar comment when we show the Wheel Riser around. Similar tools before it were designed to just level a bike and now this tool has the ability to adjust changes in a rider’s elevation, in fact it will simulate climbing conditions up to a 20% grade. Obviously this is important because it provides the fitter with an example of how the rider changes their riding position on hills or during a climb. It also is essential for getting a bike completely level which is a necessity in the fit process and the Wheel Riser has been hailed as a highly accurate, high quality precision tool for this purpose. This product is made solid and you can easily make height adjustments by hand or use a powered driver for quicker changes. The wheels are perfect addition to being able to move the riser around or out of the way while you’re working in your fit studio and yes the wheels will even work on your kid’s skateboard as well, so keep a close eye on them.
Durable Before Versatile
It was fun at interbike to have people pick up the Wheel Riser just to see their expression. Each would be surprised at the weight and how durable this tool was constructed. You have to be durable before you can be versatile. If fitters were going to use this during a fit session with a rider, we knew it needed to be stable. Not only is it designed to accommodate a wide range of wheel diameters, from 20” to 29” it can also be used as a stable base for indoor training sessions or pre-race warmups. The Wheel Riser has been a great addition to the Purely Custom lineup of fitting tools, all thoughtfully designed to help bike fitters reach accurate results. If you’re looking for your Wheel Riser, It is currently in production and will be available soon on our web site at www.purelycustom.com or give us a call at 866-758-9696 if you have any questions about how you can incorporate this great tool into your bike fitting business.
